5 Top Waterfront Running Spots in Singapore ... for Unfit Runners

When it comes to running beside a body of water, there is no shortfall of running spots in Singapore. From the coastal runs of East Coast Parkway and Punggol Promenade, to the reservoir runs at MacRitchie and Pierce Reservoir.

As Unfit Runners, we look out for short 3km-5km distance runs, with nearby food amenities which allows us to feast on food which we normally avoid, using the runs as a pretext. The start and end point should preferably be near a MRT station, as those with knee injuries can take a train back to the breakfast point rather than running back. Without further ado, here are top 5 most scenic waterfront running spots in Singapore.

1. Keppel Bay - Labrador Park

This route allows us a glimpse of the wealthy lifestyle of some of the top income earners in Singapore. Yachts floating gently in Keppel bay; A luxury waterfront apartment complex designed by one of the most famous architect in the world; A park seeped with the colonial history of Singapore. 2. Marina Bay Waterfront

Marina Bay practically redefined the tourism industry in Singapore. Previously, if you want to take an iconic picture of the towering Central Business District of Singapore, you will need a long hike to the top of the Benjamin Shares Bridge and perch on a narrow walkway with the many cars of ECP zooming behind you. Thanks to smart urban planning and land reclamation, the Singapore waterfront can rival those of Hong Kong and Shanghai. From every angle of the Marina Bay Waterfront, you can take an iconic picture of Singapore. It is no wonder that Singapore surged to be one of the most visited cities in the world after the reformation. Where is a better waterfront run than the Marina Bay Waterfront whereby you can explore the iconic sights of Singapore at every turn?

Answer: Beach Hunks and Babes!

Decked out all in running attires, the aunties and uncles of SG Unfit Runners now have the legitimate excuse to run around the beach volley ball courts and ogle at all the good looking people. It is also the perfect place to dump your kids at the nearby sand pit with your spouse and they will remain in the same spot, engrossed in their sand castle projects long after you have your shower and a light snack. The best thing is, you can hop on to the beach tram for FREE, on any of the tram stops along the way, once you do not feel like running anymore. However, evening crowds tend to be heavy and trying to avoid shrieking teenagers chasing each other may become a chore. So if the beach, the sun and the sea if your cup of tea, give Sentosa beach a try!
